Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder by studying the thought patterns and behaviours of successful therapists.
The aim of NLP is to understand how people organise their thinking, language and behaviour and aims to provide practical ways for people to transform and adapt any self-limiting thoughts and behaviours.
The neuro aspect refers to the neurological system. This involves the translating of sensory information into thought processes, activating emotions and behaviours.
The linguistic aspect is the way humans use language to communicate and influence experiences.
The programming aspect refers to thinking patterns and aims to understand how experiences are represented and how to adapt those internal processes for desired results.
NLP is therefore based on the power of the mind and how this can influence your perspective and approach to life. The technique will provide you with a set of tools and techniques that can be used to create long lasting changes. These changes are based on an understanding of goals, emotional state, behaviour patterns and the way you think. The NLP therapist can then assist in helping to develop new strategies and behaviours and eliminate negative and unproductive ones.
NLP helps you to take control of the mind and has worked successfully in many aspects of life, including:
Business and career
Whether you are thinking about starting your own business or take your business to the next level but your confidence is holding you back or maybe, you don’t feel your skills are good enough. NLP can help with personal development and achieving your career goals by overcoming fears and anxieties and eliminating those self-limiting beliefs.
Anxiety and self-esteem
It could be that you struggle with communication, suffer from social anxiety or you just don’t 100% believe in yourself and your abilities. NLP can help to break the thought cycle of those beliefs and provide the tools to empower you to build better beliefs and behaviours. It can help bring perspective to past actions and adapt your management techniques of these life events in the future.
Health and well-being
By building more positive thought patterns and developing the ability to change how we perceive the world and ourselves, we can improve our health and wellbeing with positive energy and actions. NLP can help to eliminate bad habits such as smoking and negative eating habits by helping you to understand the habit and focus on gaining freedom from these behaviours.
As a Master NLP Practitioner, I can use this technique to help you understand the rules of the mind and help you discover why you just can’t seem to achieve your full potential. With NLP techniques we can get to the root cause of the issue. We can then use NLP to change the way you communicate, change how you perceive the world, build better relationships and to lead a happier, more fulfilled life.
